Michelle Kaspryzk is a mid thirties, All-American woman, wife and mom. She could also easily be mistaken as a model with her tall, blond and natural beauty appearance.  So, as she sat across from me in the WYNM radio studio last Friday, it was pretty much impossible to comprehend that a short three months earlier Michelle almost died from complications she suffered while giving birth to her third child, her first son, Michael…or, as she lovingly calls him, Mikey.
While Michelle’s road to recovery has been miraclous, Mikey has been challenged with a number of debilitating health issues, including an inability to breath independently. As a result, he has suffered brain damage and requires a breathing tube to keep him alive.
The story of Michelle and Mikey’s tumultous life experience is rivetingly told by their husband/father Mike Kaspryzk in a blog he fired up shortly after his son’s birth (mikeyslove.blogspot.com.) In it Mike details the agonies as well as the thrills that his family has endured since the day that Mikey entered the world.
Yet now, the most important part of the Kaspryzk’s story is that Mikey has rallied enough that doctors are willing to let him go home. The problem is that even at home, he will need 16 hours a day of nursing care…and apparently there is a nursing shortage here in WNY that makes that need impossible to fill.
So Michelle and Mike are once again fighting for the life of their son and their family. They are making phone calls, sending e-mails, contacting every media outlet in the region, telling their story and asking for help. They need nurses and they need them now.
WNY….you are the region of good neighbors. Please help spread this story until it finds the medical help that the Kasprzyk Family needs.  They have the funding to pay the nurses, they have their house set up to meet Mikey’s needs and they certainly have the love required to make it all work….what they need is our help.
Send contact names or nurse info directly to me at this blog  and I will forward to Michelle and Mike. I will also continue to update their story as it unfolds.
Also, take a few minutes to check out Mikey’s blog (mikeyslove.blogspot.com)…it will make your day and remind you why life is good.
