Absolutely No Freakin’ Way

By wnymedia

I babysat my grandchildren last night and of course, we watched the Sabres game.

As the night wore on, I put my granddaughter to bed between the first and second periods, and my grandson between the second and third.  Then, during the third period with less than 20 seconds left, my daughter and her husband came home.

As we reviewed all that happened with their darling offspring ….trips to the potty, cookies and chocolate Nana gave them, books read, prayers said……I kept one eye on the game.  With 10 seconds left, I authoritatively announced that the Sabres were “done” and got ready to put my coat on and leave.

This morning…the day after….I can still feel the sense of shock delivered by Chris Drury’s rocket goal that put the game into overtime with only 7 seconds remaining.  I’m still smiling from Afinogenov’s awesome game winner. And then there’s Lindy Ruff’s post game interview where he stated that “anything is possible and can happen.”  That was the thing that really touched me and made me believe even more…. in the Sabres…. and somehow in the possibilities of my own life and abilities.

Funny how that happens…..
