Sometimes life just works that way….

By wnymedia

Unbelieveable!

The tubes have been removed and my father is breathing and eating on his own.  I even spoke to him on the phone yesterday and, while he sounded terribly hoarse from the tubing, he was amazingly coherent

It’s a funny thing….recently my dad and I talked about important paperwork… his will and his living will.  We also talked about the need for a  DNR, at which point he said that he was tired of going through all the legal paperwork and whatever he had at this point was good enough.

Now, just a few short weeks later, my father suffers a seizure and is rushed to a hospital emergency room unconscious and unable to breath on his own.  In fact, it was a day and a half before he was able to breath on his own.  Had he signed a DNR, it’s very possible that he would now be dead….and we would never have enjoyed that conversation yesterday and never had the chance to say, “I love you” once again.

Funny how life works that way….
